Pros

Global company. Access to over 20,000 professionals to answer questions. Close relationship with Microsoft and Accenture. Lots of opportunity to travel. Good base salary and flexibility

Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement. Senior management has already decided who they want to see advance. Poor incentive program compared to other companies. Placement is determined without consultation with employees. You have very little influence, visibility or say in where your next placement will be.

Pros

Lots of training, internal ones are not that useful.. but certification opportunities, you won't be given the time to prepare, most of the time, but the exams will be paid for if they are recognizable and already in their list. 'Some' consultants I met are good quality and friendly as well.

Cons

Favouritism: only focusing, being really nice and investing in a few identified staff are extremely common and visible that make the rest of the service lines or team members feel bad, not valued, isolated, resentful and demotivated over some time. This has been brought up during lunches by different colleagues, even at different service lines. Office Politics, back stabbing, fierce competition due to a strange promotion structure are increasing, making it hard to work there. (I heard in the past, 5 years ago, this type of culture was much less significant than now.) Interestingly, harsh speaking bullies are very welcome, liked, listened to influence and continuously promoted, at all levels. Observed at least 2-3 of these cases of obvious bullies winning and getting appreciated. No warning to them. As there are some really knowledgeable good consultants in all levels as a 'pro', there are also unbelievably unqualified people who you can come across in "all levels" as well and they manage to still stay in the company despite catastrophic project outcomes while good people leave as part of scapegoating or frustrations. No work-life balance. Demands are unreasonable and too high. You get sense of being sub contracted (or sub slaved) to Accenture, who feel they are superior to Avanade people and treat Avanade people on the project sites with this attitude all the time while Avanade consultants are made to work day and night on Accenture projects due to unreasonable project demands. (Most projects are Accenture's). Terrible measurement of performance and feedback system. Promotions are mostly based on unfair judgements and other calculations with lots of strange excuses to the employee to make them feel inadequate. Performance meetings can be offensive and over the top, almost feel the right to insult or criticise directly the employees' character. Once again, I heard similar views/complaints from resentful employees, especially ones below management level.

Pros

There's a lot of opportunity for learning and growing, good benefits, intelligent people (at least in certain areas).

Cons

There is a lot of corporate bloat, slow-to-grasp people, and a lack of transparency.
