Pros

The pay is higher than some other retailers, and the management can be good depending on the store.

Cons

The memberships are idiotic. It is a very sales oriented job, and you are expected to try and sell a $200 yearly membership with things even as small as a $6 HDMI chord. It just doesn't make sense. The store manager was absolutely horrible, one of the worst experiences I've ever had in my retail career. The other management was good for the most part however.

Pros

Excellent benefits. Probably the best benefits in a retail setting. 401k with employer match. Employee Stock Purchase Program with discounted company stock. Excellent range of healthcare options. Better pay than most of what I've seen in the retail industry. If you've been looking to get into sales or IT, becoming an Advisor is a great way to learn how to sell and Geek Squad is a great way to start in IT, though, you may have to accept another position within the company before getting into Geek Squad as it's the most competitive department and positions are typically given to those within the company who have worked to attain them.

Cons

It's retail. Need I say more? The current situation is low staffing, layoffs, low hours, and being forced to work in areas of the store you're not familiar with either to have enough hours on your paycheck to cover your bills or simply because there is nobody else to work those areas. Customers and Clients used to be able to walk into Best Buy and get specialized help from experts in their respective areas, be it home theater, computing, smart home, appliances, etc. Now everyone is expected to be a jack of all trades and a master of none. But that's to be expected when you put the Chief Financial Officer in charge of the entire company.
