Revolving Door for staff

Pros

The staff discounts are ok, and at times it was truly fun to work there because of good co-workers. The products are up to date with new technology so if you are interested in technology or things like gaming it will keep you interested. Decent benefits package and RSP matching for Full time workers.

Cons

Pay is very low for skilled, high volume sales people . Selling extended warranty was shoved down your throat, even when the customer had no interest and places like Visions have much better warranty programs. Mass layoffs on average once every year and a half, I was one of the lucky ones who was kept but they will let go of hard working experienced people regularly.

Pros

Not many pros to this job, at my particular location though there were great managers which was the best part of the job by far. That can vary from location to location. The base pay was not terrible for my location at $15 and hour.

Cons

Base pay is $15hr but you only got one raise per year which was 3%. the 7% inflation meant I was getting paid less with 2 years of experience than when I was first hired. Constant hour cuts. The amount of workers in the store more than halved in the two years as I was there while bestbuy shattered record profits each year. In that time they also laid off all the full time employees who had been there for years and replaced them with inexperienced part timers because it was cheaper to do so. Retail is also just the most hated job in America, deal with customers and you will find out why that is.
