Pros

The chance to get work experience

Cons

Capita is a company which has been in terminal decline since the collapse of Carillion, a company similar in terms of size, profile and services, in 2018. It has been divesting itself of companies and products (many of which are well-known and used, such as SIMS) in that period and the share-price has fallen by around 99% from its historic highs. The company's current strategy is predicated on using AI combined with aggressive cost-cutting to make it seem more profitable. The truth is, however, that the company is fundamentally insolvent and, in the last four reported years, the company made a loss in two of them. The sale of assets and businesses helps mask the lack of investment in both equipment and personnel, whereas the obsession with AI is ubiquitous and hardly unique to the company. Reported profits reflect the company's failure to increase pay (and, remarkably, abandoning the National Living Wage initiative) and demonstrate that it has remarkably little ability to produce value, either for customers or employees. Combined with falling revenues and sclerotic senior-leadership, please don't make the mistake I made - please join another company!

Pros

Going home in the evening

Cons

- Treated as a robot - No communication from management or other colleagues - Mind numbing and repetitive work - Logging every minute of your day, expected to make up time used for heading to the toilet etc - Absolutely no social side even after covid restrictions were lifted - Would not recommend this role to anyone with a bit of sense, I made this mistake so you don't have to!

Pros

Good Training To start Friendly team colleagues Coffee Plenty of shops nearby Easy access

Cons

After initial training, you are basically left high and dry. There is zero job support and people are then constantly referred to a knowledge database. It is frowned on to reach out for support to do your work. There are then continual theats of “documented conversations” for anyone that makes an error. The managers simply do not want to know despite what you are told in training. The pay is shocking and less than the living wage in Aldi or Lidl and and promises of extra payments or bonus are either removed or never materialise. Virtually nobody stays beyond 6 months and that should have been a warning sign for me. The morale is poor and even one minute extra on your lunch is noted and bathroom visits are monitored and timed. The management approach is like something from a bygone era and they clearly do not value or trust their staff. In the end people dont care about the company or customers and always move on. Poor leadership. Avoid big time.
