Pros

There is such a lack of visibility of who is doing what that you can get away with not doing much work.

Cons

10% bonus described in contracts is never given to anyone except directors and above who usually get more than that. No pay rises. No personal or professional development. Completely unstructured. Almost non-existent communication from senior people. Clients choose Capita because they are cheap (and therefore rubbish). Senior positions are only given to chartered accountants, regardless of relevancy. The whole company is run by accountants who are bean counters and who place zero value on the employees. Only work for these ungrateful idiots if you like to be viewed as a "productivity unit" on a spreadsheet. Expect nothing in return for hard work. As an example: just before Christmas each year we receive an email telling us to do between 12 and 20 hours of mandatory online training that is non-billable and must be completed in our own time. Not doing it is a sackable offence. Work 20 hours one day and expect to be given some slack the next day? No way. You must bill 7.5 hours each day or face disciplinary action. Any work over 7.5 hours is a free gift to Capita and they write this into the contracts.

Pros

Genuine flexible working. Excellent opportunities to work on different accounts and gain experience across a number of sectors (which benefits marketability outside of Capita, not within). No micro management.

Cons

Tried to give pros for a balanced review, but they all present their own cons. Flexible working - this is because you are based from home 100%. You are unlikely to actually meet real people, so there are no real bonds made between coworkers. No Christmas parties or get togethers unless you arrange (and pay) for it yourself. You have to jump through hoops to be allowed to go into the office. No micro management means they don't really care about you at all - just deliver. And even if you do deliver, there's no loyalty when the redundancies come around (which they have recently done across the board). Capita is really only good for gaining experience - don't expect any other benefits and never think you're indispensable. I've been at Capita for 16 years and the current management make it glaringly obvious you're just a number.

Pros

It's a remote position, and that's about the only benefit.

Cons

If this role weren't remote, nobody would stay for minimum wage. I've never experienced a job like this before. You're expected to handle 50-80 calls per day while juggling around four different CRM systems. On top of that, every call requires you to fill out a form that takes five minutes, but you're only given one minute for after-call work. The pressure is ridiculous, and to make matters worse, you're constantly dealing with angry and difficult customers. If you value your mental health, this is not the job for you. The micromanagement is overwhelming—they hire people to monitor your every move, and team managers always contact you to point out things you've done. It's just not worth it. Always short staff, nobody stays.
