Friendly, approachable work colleagues Some skilful people about Learnt some SQL Know their market and have swindled their customers into long multi-million contracts at taxpayers' expense - so good job security then

Cons

Software product laden with technical debt Useless reinventing of the wheel (e.g. Sockets, IPC, String libraries) introduce 1000s of interesting bugs Convoluted architecture for what is, at heart, a simple data-driven Windows application The Visual Basic 6 version of the software is actually better than the new-fangled .NET one Deployment process is horrendous No decent development environments - VMs with out-of-date config, so you can't be sure your software changes will work when deployed to the testing environment More time spent debugging configuration hell than actual software development

My fellow team members were generally good experienced people who were more than willing to help me with any problems I had on a project.

Cons

You have to jump through several hoops to get the simplest things done. You often had to wait several weeks before getting a reply to a request.

Huge variety of technical details to be learnt from the UK Counterpart

Cons

Bad management No idea of visions or missions to achieve Poor internal policy(Final settlement after 45 days of your last working adding to the last month salary being held up, means resource will have to survive with the savings for 2.5 months) Everyday is a working day, no Indian national holidays or UK holidays The work-life balance is literally ruined
