Pros

Flex Time(but will work over 10 hour day minimum)

Cons

Unreliable - Can lose your job anytime in a instance. Company has no allegiance to Employees or their tenure/hardwork and dedication. A lot of employees have been there since year 2000. They stuck through with the company hoping that it would turn around. They weren't re-issued any of the Stocks they lost due to being "under-water" and also stopped any new issues. When the company started to turn around, the first people they got rid of are the long tenured people. Furthermore, you will probably come into Cisco, smart and cream of the crop, however, please beware that you will have zero career enhancement. Their constant budget cutbacks take away the key elements that keep your job skills intact.

Overall Good Experience

Pros

Have worked there for 10 years. Good pay and benefits. Lots of good people to work with. The best thing I have enjoyed is the flexibility, i.e. the ability to work remotely, flexible schedule.

Cons

- You can move laterally as much as you want but upward progression can be very difficult. Making it past Grade 11 and 12 seem to be very political. - Cisco relies on its bonus structure for retention. They do not give annual pay increases. I came in at a good rate and sat at that rate for 7 years before getting a raise. Negotiate a good salary coming in the door because that's all you'll get for a while! - The company still goes through an annual layoff cycle. Good people with lots of years with the company are usually let go without the opportunity to find another position internally. This is starting to make a lot of people anxious. There is a big push to move US employees to their Raleigh NC (RTP) campus.

A NO if you need immigration sponsorship

Pros

you get a chance to work on advance technologies and with some great minds

Cons

Cisco keeps doing regular silent layoffs which make prevents CIsco from filling immigration petitions like Green Card. People keep waiting for years to get their PERM processed. So if you are looking for a sponsor to file GC for you then CIsco is not a place for you. Save your Big American Dream!
