Pros

Staff discount. Thats it. I honestly dony know why i am still here but trust me, i wont be for much longer.

Cons

Not enough hours generated in store. Staff safety constantly at risk. Management expected to do 5 peoples work. Management have no control over running of the store. No pay review. No additional pay for running 2 stores for 3 months. Penalised for not performing in said 3 months. Area managers unsupportive. Constantly piling on more jobs and more pressure without giving us more time to do said tasks.

Pros

Some store teams are very passionate about their local community and charitable causes.

Cons

Inefficient and poorly run across all areas of the food retail operation. Deliveries of goods are not safe and never easy to unload or work. The size of the stock room and shoofloors are not fit for purpose due to such a large range. Staffing levels and budget of hours is ridiculously low - stores are expected to run with 2 people all day, it is not practical and it is not safe. The experience for the customer is terrible, the prices are too high, the shelves are rarely stocked adequately - especially for promotional items, stores are run down and falling apart, frequent long queue times. Overbloated head office teams who don't even provide a good service to frontline store teams.

Pros

Good discount and pension scheme. Training is also available if requested.

Cons

As a former manager, I can 100% say it isn't how well you achieve targets, more of "if your face fits" managers are put in the positions based on who will work the most hours for least pay and often promoted based on brown nosing not capability. I was a manager for over 11years. Managers are forced to cover the shifts themselves and if they complain, they are classed as Red managers and performanced out. This then trickles down to staff and managers resorting to scare tatics to save their own jobs. The main reason for this is the "Ops" managers and their own agendas and favourites.
