Great training but that’s where it stops

Pros

Great training. Coworkers are fantastic. The team leads/managers do have your back and are excellent. Lots of chances for advancement.

Cons

Little to no benefits. Pay sucks and after you pay for your internet and your home phone (required by company) then you are actually taking home less than minimum wage —-I am actually making $200 less each month than what my rent is. Company holds you to incredibly high standards and watches the clock for everything that you do. You have tons of training to complete and are expected to achieve all these high levels of metrics, but you are not given any autonomy to actually manage your time or any way to refocus yourself if anything goes wrong while talking to a customer. You have 8 seconds between calls to get your thoughts together and prepare yourself for the next issue you have to solve — which is not enough time to catch your breath let alone actually gather your wits about you. As well, you’re expected to log your cases brilliantly from the beginning and have everything perfect by the time you hang up with the customer. That is all well and fine in theory, but in practice it’s impossible, especially when you aren’t allowed to put your customer on hold while you actually log the call! And you are given no time or outlet to actually complete said case logging after the call is done so then the logging just becomes half-assed —- but then you are totally reprimanded for not logging even tho you are given no time to do it. It’s a vicious circle. If you do try to take the time to log effectively and you borrow time from Paul to give to Mary in order to be able to account for the reason why you are not “available” to immediately take another call then you are reprimanded. If you try to take time during your shift to catch up on the mountains of training and coaching and other things that are thrown at you then you are reprimanded. If you fall ill or have an emergency that keeps you from the phones then you are reprimanded. If you cross your eyes and breathe with a twang then you are reprimanded. Pretty much you are reprimanded for everything. The managers are wonderful but there is only so much they can do to help you cheat the constant clock watching in order to help you do your best in this type of environment.
