Hiring process is a little strange.

Pros

Health insurance. Decent pay. Unionized. Paid training/orientation. Only have met great people so far.

Cons

Hiring process is a little strange, interviewed for a driver position with specific hours but during orientation I had to pick a job title and hours by random drawing because of seniority. Luckily I got the hours and position I wanted by drawing in the top 5 but the other 15 people after me weren't so lucky. Other cons: No full time offer at starting have to wait on seniority.

Pros

Great environment to learn and grow as a professional. You're surrounded by newer people who are also just beginning their careers. Lots of opportunity to move across the country if you're successful. Also, you can make pretty good money if you perform well. Personally, as a higher performer, I made around $80k/year my first 2 years and there were others who made over $100k. This is not a smile and dial job. You really do nurture relationships and build your customer base. You get leads every week from people who already have some interest. While certainly you have to spend some time on the phone, it is not cold-calling through lists.

Cons

Can be a bit of a trial by fire in your first few months but almost everyone hired on gets through that. You will probably get bored with the job after about 1+ year. The most effective way to move up is to move to a Field Sales role which always means moving to a new part of the country. Sometimes there can be a bit of nagging on the KPI's instead of a simple emphasis on sales. The company as a whole is very numbers-based so if you don't meet productivity numbers, it's a black mark on you. I must stress that it's very doable to meet your numbers, but can push you a bit depending on the day.

Pros

A pioneer in global logistics, who continues to strive in being the best integrator in the business. Investing heavily in it's people.

Cons

Work / Life balance is not pushed enough. Work load can get to you if you do not control it.
