Pros

DHL is a great company to grow within, if you are willing to relocate. The exposure to various industries and verticals helps build strong business acumen and industry knowledge. Great managers have the ability to support you.

Cons

Commissions are very dependent on territory. Can be hit or miss. Thankfully for me it was hit. Internal competitions between countries (ie DHL China stealing business from DHL US). Poor consistency across management. Overly focused on Sales activity, which breeds poor sales behavior and poor results. Expectation is 26+ meetings per week with customers (30-90 min per meeting). You are responsible for full sales cycle with average admin work equating to 30+ min per meeting. Implementation or maintenance projects could take much much longer. Now factor in internal meetings, prospecting activities, drive time, emails, etc and just think about how many hours you’re expected to work.... Poor work life balance, expected to work long hours and through the evenings. Most management and senior management is so removed from the roles they manage they are disillusioned by unrealistic inputs to push outputs.

Pros

- 3 weeks PTO given at beginning of year - Not very cut throat - Good training program for new employees - Cafe on site

Cons

- Certain heavyweight shipments the company allows you to sell to customers but does not pay you on them. Baffling that they can get away with this. Its genius for the company, they let you sell and they get the revenue but don't pay the sales rep. - Recent changes make hitting commission WAY harder - Management took away ability to work OT - Low base salary of 35k - Quarterly commissions (miss commission one quarter and you go 6 months without receiving a commission check. This happens to every sales rep as the average sales rep hits commission 2/4 quarters) - Company is struggling financially (no growth for past 5 months) - Company cares about irrelevant KPI's rather than revenue - Company is a shell of what it once was several years ago, avoid working here

Pros

I had so many opportunities during my time at DHL and loved it. I would have been a lifer if they had not shut our facility down. There are hard days and long hours but you are very well compensated. Excellent benefits: healthcare, 401K + matching, sick leave, vacation, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement. Great training ongoing and otherwise, lots of opportunities for advancement if you are willing to relocate, above average severance

Cons

Many changes in leadership, our entire business model changed displacing tens of thousands and just like any big corporation, sometimes the wrong people are hired and promoted. Can be very stressful from KPIs to client expectation
