Pros

Remote work , flexible times , good salary

Cons

Bad Talent Acquisition team practices overall. I was shocked with their incompetency and this was also mentioned to me by 11 different colleagues when I entered the company. During the interview process for the position of HR, my so-called manager and interviewer told me and I quote “I am very proteclive with my team, but I am the "B" word with all other teams” -you read correctly! She also told me and I quote “we do not need you to know HR practices, as we use google to get our info and provide that to our clients and we let other teams to deal if any problems arise" Again as reminder: I was interviewing for a HR position for a HR and payroll providing company. Bad onboarding experience where I was left alone to figure out what’s what and Non compliant procedures, i.e: personal DATA such as ID's / passport's and other sensitive information was being distributed freely between departments, even though not needed to complete their tasks (clear GDPR breach). After I raised questions regarding some of those non compliant processes, they dismissed me after only 2 weeks not even following current giverned labor law or any sort of good practice, which as HR I find highly unethical. No second chances were given or explanations. I have also heard during my 2 weeks from other 6 employees incidents regarding unfair treatments, harassment and I witnessed with my own eyes internal HR's in Directorial positions with NO HR related studies. I even found out that some HR directors do only posses 2-3years experience as HR. Total incompetency at all levels.

Pros

I guess you might like it if you have no life outside of work and you're comfortable with unstructured chaos

Cons

Deel's company culture is a textbook example of how not to run a business. The alarming turnover rate, especially among contractors, screams dysfunction at its finest. The management doesn't just micromanage; they suffocate with their overbearing presence. The CEO, while perhaps ambitious, often behaves more like a petulant child than a leader. Public channels like Slack are riddled with cringe-worthy displays of unprofessionalism from the so-called leaders. And for a company that touts its remote capabilities, the glaring absence of clear remote work guidelines is laughable. Deel's fixation on competitors borders on a schoolyard obsession, and their approach is less strategic and more hysterical. The "competitive analysis" on the company's Notion page, complete with recordings of sales reps from other platforms, is downright tacky. Rumors about Deel's questionable business practices are rife, and their default mode seems to be denial and deflection. Frankly, Deel seems more interested in pointing fingers than in fixing their glaring issues. They're a masterclass in corporate chaos.

Whilst some of us at Deel have worked in much larger organizations and other hyper growth start ups, I disagree that we have any kind of abnormal or egregious corporate chaos. We are in hyper growth mode and thankful to be in this era specifically during this time in the global economy whereby we have sat by and watched other companies lay off team members, reduce compensation and benefits and perks, stop hiring, take down rounds in valuation and funding, etc. As with other start up businesses, and our competitors included, we have turnover as a result predominantly of poor quality of hire and we must and will do better in training recruiters and managers. We continue to invest in coaching our leaders to scale themselves as leaders of an almost 3,000 person global company with month over month revenue and headcount growth. Specifically, communication, leadership principles, presentation, high performance culture are top of mind. And as for competitive analysis, we have been reactive to our competitors tactics, but are moving to change that and control our own narrative. Thanks for this view.

Thank you for your perspective and feedback. We acknowledge that we have lots of growing to do as we scale at Deel. We are working hard to ensure we have a great company culture, providing opportunities for growth in leadership, and supporting our global team to make sure that they have the ability to bring their full selves to work each day, while exceeding the expectations of our customers. We hope that you understand that there can be growing pains in all startups, especially during this hyper-growth phase, and will keep an open mind as we do our best to scale and support our global team.
