Pros

Good work-life balance, pay, and benefits. Historically, Dell has been a strong place to work overall, including a more relaxed approach to the corporate environment and good PTO including sick-time.

Cons

In recent time, policy changes force employees to choose between career advancement and going into office. Employees who were encouraged to work from home and have moved away have been cut off from promotion unless they move back and return to hybrid or in-office work. In addition, recent organizational changes have caused a lot of headaches and ballooning workloads for IT. A shift from specialized teams to larger teams in a jack-of-all-trades format has a lot more issues than upper management seems to think and the employees are stuck with the consequences. It was a great place to work around COVID, but recently too many organizational choices have been made that hinder the "people-first" vibe Dell has always prided itself on. People have been moved away from managers they've spent time developing professional relationships with in arbitrary directions, and non-IT individuals are being put in IT roles and can barely keep up. It's a bit of a mess that leaves the impression that employees are numbers, not people, and there's a greater concern for profits and how to deal with laying off too many people at once.

Pros

-Market average salary -Still some talented team members on staff

Cons

-Senior leadership are wildly detatched from customer needs and wants -Current focus is on cutting headcount, nobody is safe and they make sure you know it, hard work and talent counts for nothing, it's all politics -Offices are awful and overcrowded, some are very dated and feel more like a correctional facility than an office -Virtually no opportunity for career advancement beyond senior IC, certainly no movement from leadership to executive positions -You will be expected to take on more responsibility and operate at a higher level than your job code to make up for management gaps

Pros

Strong brand name that adds value to your resume Opportunity to work on large-scale projects with modern technologies

Cons

I worked at Dell for three years, and while the company has a strong brand, the overall experience was disappointing. The salary is significantly below market standards, and the benefits are not competitive. There is no structured promotion cycle—even after five years of total experience, including three years at Dell, career progression was nonexistent. Additionally, despite being the only resource from my team in the office, I was still required to commute every day, spending four hours on travel. This rigid and unreasonable policy made work-life balance extremely difficult. If you're looking for fair compensation, career growth, and flexibility, this may not be the right place. Cons: Salary is significantly below market standards Limited or no promotion cycle, even after years of experience Poor benefits compared to competitors Rigid return-to-office policy, even when the team is remote, leading to long daily commutes Lack of career growth and recognition for consistent performance
