Pros

Very good competitive compensation and benefits package. Interesting and challenging work. Reasonable work demands in most departments.

Cons

Fidelity is highly political. Basically no matter how high the quality of your work is, if you are not "liked" especially by your direct manager you will not be around for long. Department and company reorganizations are often and many. It is during these times you risk falling out of favor and run the risk of frequent job eliminations. Once you are out of the company due to a layoff or job elimination you are pretty much out forever - unless you have a contact manager that will hire you. There is no job security no matter your position or length of employment. Fidelity will never win any best places to work awards but the they pay well. If you are looking to be loved, respected, or for a friend - buy a dog.

Pros

Retirement, there are no other pros anymore.

Cons

This company is not one you want to work for. This is my first professional job, and I have been repeatedly lied to and let down by management. Their LEAP program is not great from a learning standpoint and does not actually guarantee any full stack engineering role like they promise- instead, they send a lot of those people straight to QA, despite luring them in with false promises in the job app and interviews. This company apparently prides itself on internal mobility, and yet management will lie to you repeatedly about "asking around about other roles" every time you try to find any sort of change in position. They would rather not have to make a new hire than have happy employees. Speaking of management, every manager has too many direct reports to care or know about your work. Their attitude is "if I don't hear any complaints from your squad lead, you're doing fine". Meanwhile my squad lead is not technical and does not even know if my work is good or not. My manager and squad lead have not met in an entire year. despite my complaints about squad conditions and work value. Overall, this company wants to stick you somewhere and ignore you . And that is even more evident these days with their new RTO policies, which they continue to move the goalposts backwards on as they receive more and more negative feedback. Working here has genuinely ruined my mental health and taken a few years that I will never get back.

Pros

Okay pay Decent work life balance with a set shift Good insurance Maternity leave

Cons

Poor management You will be stuck in phone purgatory unless you suck up enough to the right people or have an in. Back to back calls with reprimand for using more than 3 mins of after call or not ready time per hour. Very metric based, you can be doing stellar in most metric categories and have great QA scores but that won't be enough. They will literally ride you, strip bonuses, take away perks like off the phone time (if you can still get it) and Voluntary time off till you fit in to that robotic role. The new omaha regional manager was previously at nelnet and is running it as such. I've had some crap jobs in life, none have ever been this bad or failed me this hard. They sell a dream that they will never follow through on.
