Pros

Opportunity to get out on the right foot and have something on your resume for your next job.

Cons

A few things: 1. Downward trend of becoming hyper focused on metrics, which creates a micromanaged culture. You'll read a number of reviews about poor middle management, and I find that this is mostly true with a few good outliers. 2. Unfortunately, middle management is programmed to be completely metrics driven and almost don't blame them for their tactics, because it's being passed down from above. 3. To provide a bit of context.. my wedding day fell on a quarters close and my direct management was visibly upset for not thinking about such an important work date while planning out the single most important day of my entire life. It didn't stop there though, they prevented a member of the bridal party from attending, saying indirectly that it wouldn't be a good career move for them, so I'm left with an uneven bridal party. Hope this puts in perspective that you are nothing but a laborer, and not due basic human courtesies like major life events. A quarter close comes before a wedding.

Pros

Fast growing company with double digit revenue growth.

Cons

During the recruiting process, Gartner practically promises that you will be making $250 to $300K a year and Gartner will make everything possible to ensure your success. What they don’t tell you is that after completing their Academy Training program you can be fired if you’re consider a bad fit. Termination will occur even after the new employee has quit there previous job, relocated at a great expense. Gartner shows no empathy for the situation these unsuspecting employees are put through. No remorse from management that lives are destroyed. I know of at least one suicide due to this practice. The first question a recent fired Academy graduate asked a manager “why was I not told during the interviewing process that you could be fired right out of Academy”, the response from the manager was that if they disclosed this fact, they would not be able to recruit as many applicants. At no point are trainees told they might be fired. The training process can take from 6 weeks to over 2 months. During this period trainees are away from their homes and families. It’s unfortunate because a lot of people move just for this job, and they do not even know if they will make it through training and a lot of people don't. It’s downright a cruel and unethical practice that Gartner needs to stop doing. They are obsessed with role playing to the point Gartner feels like a cult. Stay away

Pros

Good training bonus, annual leave

Cons

Beware if you are looking to join sme/ mid-size team! - Incompetent and inexperienced manager parachuted from the UK office who has zero clue about leadership or selling in Asia region. - Senior management also new to the region, does not recognise cultural nuances at all. - Unrealistic sales metrics are set for new hires when even senior team members also cannot hit them. - No guidance/ support from leadership to succeed in the role. - Manager will micro-manage you daily, and tell you to seek others for help. - Manager focuses only on looking good themselves, in front of senior management.
