Can be an interesting job.

Cons

Witnessed bullying, harassment, homophobia, racism with no repercussions. Underpaid. Shift working. Apprenticeship content contradicts your role responsibilities.

Staff below SCS level are keen to drive change and efficient improvements. Good pension (approx 27%) Hybrid Working Job security

Cons

Poor base pay compared to private market. No development pathways within own team/area - always have to move to a new area when seeking promotions. Constant negative narrative by ministers that blame their failures on the civil service to cover themselves
