Pros

Employee discounts with many of the business partners, including auto companies, financial institutions, insurers, cellular phone providers, large retailers, and many others. It's especially nice at Christmas time. There are also discounts on IBM items, but they are rarely used because IBM doesn't exactly focus on consumer items.

Cons

Many, many of their engineering jobs have been offshored. The older workers mostly feel they're doomed to being laid off after the next quarterly report that disappoints the analysts. The company is more than happy to replace these workers with younger ones or foreigners who cost less. The stock price RIGHT NOW is the most important thing, always.
