Pros

There are many good, smart, friendly, and hard-working people at SciQuest (at least there were when I worked there). The solutions are for the most part well-integrated, easy to use, and deliver value. The company doesn't nit-pick on expenses and values engagement at all levels with clients and prospects. I believe they truly care about making clients happy, and if you are a prospective client and feel that the solution is a good fit and there is a good team in place to take care of you over the long term, you may very well have a good experience with SciQuest.

Cons

Despite the flaccid HR response that is sure to follow and which will try to convince you otherwise, employees are NOT the most valuable asset, as evidenced by the continued stream of firings and the most recent management shake-up. During my time there, I saw dozens of intelligent, committed, experienced professionals get shown the door with zero warning. Communication around those changes was virtually non-existent, which only increased the fear and made those remaining check out. Analyst relations were poor, as demonstrated the recent inability to keep SciQuest in the Gartner Magic Quadrant despite lots of progress on the product. How much of this can be traced to the now-former CEO and how much is ingrained in the culture? Who knows. But if you're considering a job there, don't be fooled by words. Observe actions, and get commitments in writing.

It’s true that we have a new leadership team -- and that we have made some changes to enable SciQuest to maintain its position as an industry leader. Our new leaders all have records of success in their respective fields, and we have been impressed with the talent and dedication we see here at SciQuest. There is nothing more important when it comes to serving customers than hard-working, dedicated employees. We know change can be unsettling, but we’re here to build something great. We know it takes a core of great employees to do that.

Pros

There is a market for the software solutions this company provides and the company is making strides in combining acquired solutions into the legacy platform.

Cons

Executives seem to be overly motivated by their personal financial agendas. This causes them to be reactionary and temperamental. Executives are also learning the software business as they go. They don't have prior software company experience. All of this results in too many poor short-term decisions and very poor long-term decisions as well. While strides are being made to integrate their solutions, too many missteps have occurred along the way resulting in depressed growth and an overly pessimistic view of the company's sales force. The problem with this company is its executive management and their inability to execute.

Pros

This company was SciQuest and it was a great place to work. Work was fun, people were fun and a couple of company outings and perks like Hurricanes and Bulls tickets.

Cons

AKKR...it's that simple.... these guys are toxic and have totally destroyed a great company.... When they had mass layoffs most people knew they were coming... however there was no severance, medical benefits came to a halt... basically you had a few minutes to get your stuff and get out the door.... It was a real slap in the face to those who dedicated years to this company.
