Pros

I started working here only a year ago, but from the beginning I've felt very welcome, everyone was always talking about the "lightspeed family", at first I thought "yeah right, that's what every company says" but after this year I have experienced the welcoming, supporting, and very dynamic atmosphere that is Lightspeed. I was also very amazed at what lengths we sometimes go through for our customers, as a very customer oriented person, this really amazed me.

Cons

The workload can be high sometimes, but this is always addressed and very well rewarded. I'm genuinely having trouble coming up with cons. Sometimes the coffee machine runs out of beans & it sometimes completely shuts down... but that's about it.

Thank you so much for your positive review. When we ask our employees what they like most about working here, they almost always say the people. Our people are our greatest asset and we work hard to make sure our environment is supportive, fun and rewarding. You’re right, the workload can be high. With our position as a leader in the industry, and the rapid growth we’re experiencing, we all know we’re going to be part of something special – and that’s the most exciting part! Thanks again for your review, and contribution to Lightspeed.

Long hours, limited opportunity for advancement, recognition for hard work limited, no performance bonuses for non-sales employees

Thank you for your candid review. At Lightspeed, we have a culture of constant improvement and rely on feedback like this to help us evolve the way we do things. One of our people goals this year is to build career paths and nurture talent, and we have started implementing development opportunities across all departments. Because we work so hard, we try to ensure there is constant appreciation for it. We’re sorry to hear that you feel the recognition is limited, and this is certainly not intentional. I encourage you to talk to your manager or HR, if you feel comfortable doing so. We will keep a close eye on this to make sure everyone is being recognized for the hard work that they put in – after all, you all are the reason for our success!

Pros

Nothing really. They pretend to care, and be cool but it is typical new age, tech cliche. "Work hard, play hard" like thousands of other companies. They are not a family, their office is not conducive to doing good work and they don't want you to grow.

Cons

Sales teams pressure each other to work 12hour days for literally no reason. If someone leaves after 8-9h days then the boss will sabotage them by giving their leads to other people so they miss their targets and are either fired or forced to work 12h a day to get them off their back. It is illegal to not pay people to work more than 40h a week, check the Quebec labour act. Every person doing this can go to the Normes de travail and report Lightspeed and they will force them to pay overtime.

Thank you for your candid review. We recognize that there are areas where we have room for improvement. As a high-growth sales organization, we can’t always control the amount of work that needs to be done at Lightspeed to drive continued success. We invest in our employees by offering additional training, internal career progression, and a wide range of benefits, as well as generous performance-based compensation in quota-carrying roles. To be successful in any sales role, you might need to stretch the typical punch-clock mindset to reach or surpass your own targets. You’ll be glad to know that we have implemented new initiatives for work/life balance. We will continue to brainstorm new ways of rewarding employees as we grow.
