Pros

+ the people you meet (great individuals) + benefits (if you are successful, you will have fun, parties etc... a typical sales environment) + sales education and coaching: If your manager knows what she/he is doing and you are open-minded for constructive feedback + if you're doing good, the pay is solid for a starting position in Sales

Cons

- 75% of the day is one sided work and repetitive, but if you want to become good in sales, you need client exposure - which is what you get here B2B (90% via phone) - - low base salary: Sometimes things are not going as well as you'd like them to go, you'll be asked to perform better. Its all in the numbers - result-focused (well.. its a sales position) - monthly sales targets (gives you a lot of pressure, quarterly might be better) - micromanagement, especially in the beginning (depending though on seniority)

Pros

There was a paycheck. This is truly the only positive I can come up with for this unbearable company.

Cons

The good reviews on this website are completely fake. This was by far the most unprofessional company I have ever worked for. It is an ongoing joke with everyone who quits that they have finally gotten out of the cult that is Meltwater. The management team could be described as man-children who never grow up and treat other human beings with no respect. The political conversations that happen with the Sales team in the open office environment are downright shocking. The sexist comments go completely unnoticed as they are made by management. The complete lack of awareness in the sales area director is quite possible one of the main reasons most of us hated being in the office while he was there. The CEO puts sales over everything, which is insane considering this is a SaaS company. The “company” kick off is not all inclusive. Because of the sales teams tactics it is truly embarrassing to tell people I used to work for Meltwater. I listened to the sales team lie on the phone all day long. From 8 am there is AWFUL techno music being BLARED like the office is a tacky club in Miami. The sales team regularly takes shots and plays games of flip cup without any care for coworkers who are actually working. The building tenants surrounding the office hate the company because of the complete lack of respect with music volume. You will learn exactly nothing about being a professional because the managers in place are children who have had no formal training themselves.
