Pros

- fun work environment i.e. music on the speakers, lots of social events etc. - people are fun, you will enjoy spending time with coworkers -great office i.e. lots of snacks/food, ping ping table, darts etc. - money can be good (if you are meeting your targets)

Cons

- EXTREME micromanagement. I feel like a child who is not trusted to do their job. You have at least 4 meetings a week with the same people checking up on all your cases. So redundant and unnecessary - they hire people who's job it is just to make sure you are doing your job. It's the silliest thing i have ever experienced - Very little work-life balance, you are expected to be "online" at all times - they do not foster growth and development if it gets in the way of "selling time" - sales culture is so aggressive. They encourage misleading clients, sneaky deals and infringing on their personal time - someone once told a story of how they got a client to sign a renewal contract when they were in the hospital. They encourage and are proud of this unethical behaviour - culture/office can feel very high school

Meltwater Response

Thanks for your review. It's great that you enjoyed Meltwater's fun and social work environment. However, with regard to management and work-life balance, I'm sorry to hear that your experience is not matching our values or the culture we strive to build. With 20+ offices across the US, I cannot speak to each of our director's management styles, but we do invest a lot in our managers so that they can successfully lead and develop their teams. We can always improve in these areas and greatly value employee feedback, so I encourage you to read out to your AD or VP with these concerns.

Pros

The people you work with will be some of the best. Meltwater is so big on culture that you will have such a good time at work.

Cons

Management is all over the place, I went through so many Managing Directors. They are so intent on hiring from within that they end up promoting people to management who are not ready and they really struggle. In Client Success there are so many metrics to keep track of and perform well on, it makes it disheartening when you can't hit them all consistently.

Pros

Great sales training in a high pressure environment. Any other sales job will seem easy after this.

Cons

1) Cult-like company culture. Expected to spend a lot of time outside of work with your co-workers. Meltwater will consume your life. 2) Constant prospecting - You will be expected to spend evenings and weekends trying to scrape together enough leads to cold call the next day. This is made extremely difficult as other reps will have already claimed and horded most of the decent leads in their pipeline. Most of the people you call will already have been called multiple times by Meltwater (sometimes in the past few months). 3) Unethical sales practices. Products can be discounted by huge percentages at the end of the month - losing the trust of potential clients. You will be forced to push the (sometimes buggy) product onto potential clients even when you know it's not a good fit (aiding in the companies huge churn rates). 4) Please know what you are getting into. Although your role may be sold as an 'International management training program' you will be cold calling all day in a pressure cooker environment, and 'hitting target' will become the most important thing in your life. Unless you have no experience or desperately need the job - avoid at all costs!
