Pros

- Large variety of exciting projects - Leader in Aerospace Industry - Northrop Grumman managers work to place employees into other available projects once their respective project is done, unlike other aerospace companies. who apparently leave employees to fend for themselves and find projects or face termination. - 9/80 work schedule, dates from Christmas to New Years are typically company paid days off - Salaried workers can earn overtime pay with approval from managers

Cons

- Although we get the days from Christmas to New Years off, it comes at the cost of less federal holidays off - Starting PTO is terrible (15 days for me, leave and sick time combined) - Most employees are not eligible for bonuses unless they are the top 10% of performers and raises barely keep up with inflation. - Many employees were still required to come to work in person throughout the pandemic and it looks like the company is not too interested in shifting to a combination of work from home and work in office.

Pros

NGC is an amazing and supportive organization. They have higher standards for their employees than other defense companies, but it translate into a good working environment where every person pulls their weight. The bonuses are generous, and as is the yearly raise. The company is very invested in retaining those who want to stay. Additionally, the flexibility allowed during the pandemic was a godsend.

Cons

I don't have many outside of feeling that my accomplishments are diminished because I am a woman. I make less than any person on my team, but we all have the same degree level and overall I have the most general experience. HR's reasoning is that my degree doesn't directly correlate to my job. So, though I've been working in IT in some facet for a decade, my co-worker who was recently hired, whose only other experience is fast food, makes over 20k more than I do. Advice to women, know going into the interview what is fair for your education and experience and accept nothing less. Maybe one day having a female CEO will mean something.

Pros

There are some good eggs here and interesting clubs to entice the younger folks. Helpful on developing patents on some things. Put great amounts of effort and money to try and get employees recognized/ awards at conferences.

Cons

Unfortunately do not seem to care much about individual contributors much anymore as shown in various ways by management and leadership. Listening to older crowd only on some things, but shut down on others, especially for big issues that they want to sweep under the carpet. Have also heard from some of my new mentees that it is frustrating having been brought in under the impression that they are coming into a great place to work with the ability to “define possible” but then have things such as edassist cut to a minimal amount (which is no longer true with Raytheon bumped back up to $25k after their merger). By not providing the building blocks and not putting in effort and infrastructure to help document heuristics from us, it makes it difficult for future employees. Huge need for mentorship within teams without an education supplement opportunity. Also heard about acquaintances who were treated terribly as they started looking elsewhere/ tried to leave which does not encourage people to look fondly about possible coming back one day after having gotten the knowledge elsewhere. Supposedly they would be more open about salaries in 2021-22 but have heard from those in management that some folks who are minorities are grossly underpaid as well without a sponsor.
