Pros

Fly under the radar, make 0 noise, and collect your paycheck

Cons

I completely echo the toxic work environment review below me. HR complaints, sexual assaults, and other investigation are going on nonstop, though they do their best to cover it up. Everyone is disgruntled. They recently encouraged a bunch of people to get Mental Health Certified in an attempt to combat the awful morale and stop the spiraling. Absolutely zero growth opportunity, the entire SD location is propped up by a flimsy labor-only contract that is dying every day. I had direct reports asking for YEARS for a new assignment - never happened. Pay is below market. I walked across the street into a 25% raise. Bare minimum vacation, no sick time, no 401k vesting at all until 3 years. By the time I left, we were required to report any and all vacation to multiple stakeholders so they could update their forecasts DAILY - if you took 2hrs off on a Friday without letting your boss’ boss’ program manager know, you were reprimanded. Top heavy, full of dead weight. Multiple senior managers overseeing a department that should have one. Why? Terrible managers all around. Absolutely the worst management and HR staff I have ever witnessed. Be prepared to advocate for yourself, no one else will. The only people that stay here long term are neutered, scared, broken people who have checked out in the best interest of holding onto their job. This company and it's leaders are not your friend. You have been warned…

the biggest mistake of my life

Pros

I worked in one of the Utah locations within Propulsion Systems. My team was the best part of working there and the cafeteria staff were the sweetest but that's about it.

Cons

The number of cons is endless, but my biggest gripe is how I was lied to during my interview about the culture of the company and the work life balance. On work like balance: You are expected to sacrifice everything to get the product out the door. Don't get me wrong, I'm no stranger to overtime and working hard but to be constantly threatened with being fired or laid off simply BECAUSE I didn't want to work more than 50 hours a week (yes that's the normal amount of overtime expected) is insane to me. They say that you can flex the time off but most of the time everyone is so shorted staffed that you really can't. THERE'S A VERY HIGH YOU WILL NOT GET COMPENSATED FOR YOUR OVERTIME. It's no wonder that there's such a high turnover rate for both operations and engineers. Well honestly it's either the excessive amount of overtime or the extremely toxic culture. On company culture: It's so unprofessional I could laugh. Everyone is so openly aggressive and refuses to help or answer any questions. On the small chance, someone MIRACLOUSLY decides to help you, all their answers come out as aggressive and condescending. At any other company, they would be FIRED ON THE SPOT. It's one thing to point out someone's mistake, it's another to belittle them as a person. We're working on rocket motors for crying out loud, you think people would have more understanding. With all the tensions between the different departments, it was impossible to get anything done. Don't even get me started on the lack of training.... Seriously no one knows what they're doing. Honestly I'm not surprised that there's such a high turn over rate. Closing Notes: Accepting this job was the biggest mistake of my life. The amount of frustrations and stress placed on me in my time here sent me to the doctor more times that I could count. If you ask anyone, they'll say the same thing. People openly talk about how they're unhappy with the company and they way they're being treated. I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy.

Pros

* Hours flexible. Every other Friday off by default. Work with your manager to work the days you like. Easily scale down hours and retain full benefits. * Easy work. Compared to Silicon Valley tech, moves at a snail's pace. Double edged sword. * Most stable engineering work ever.

Cons

* You will not improve on the job because the job is not challenging. If you are not proactive in your free time your abilities will atrophy. * Corporate bloat makes everything take 5x as long as it should. Meetings for meetings to prepare for meetings. * Salary is low compared to cutting edge tech, but work is easier so it's not unfair. * Advancement is entirely dependent on your manager, so get on his good side * you log hours on everything so getting ahead in your work offers you zero benefit. Only software gig where I have ever seen this. It's a terrible idea.
