      Great company, but be prepared to work

      Pros

      -If you are motivated, you will be given a lot of responsibility quickly -Great culture- everyone is extremely smart, fun, and motivated -Access to executives, both from Optym and their clients -Great perks

      Cons

      Most development happens at their India and Armenia offices. You may be expected to communicate with these teams late at night or very early Minimum 50 hour work week. You will have no trouble reaching that.

      We appreciate your feedback. We are glad that you liked the smart and motivated team members, access to executives, and the perks. We work very hard to recruit the quality talent and we are very proud of them. The kind of work we do has two components – optimization algorithms and packing of these algorithms into complete applications. We focus on optimization algorithms in the US office and focus on packaging algorithms into applications in our overseas offices. We do that to reduce the cost of development and make our software more affordable to our clients. We are working on improving the work-life balance and have started conversations with our team members on what can we do to improve on this front.       Home like work place

      Pros

      I have been working full time at Optym for more than 3 years. Work satisfaction: Optym provides software solutions for transportation problems. It is challenging as well as intellectually satisfying. The responsibilities and tasks are assigned based on work experience and qualifications. Organization structure: Optym has a flat organization structure. The CEO, Managers, Directors always have time for employees. They treat employees as friends and family. Teams: The teams at Optym are very well-knit and have tremendous dedication towards company and empathy towards colleagues. Employee engagement: Optym management puts in lot of effort to engage employees in satisfying and motivational activities. Be it CSR, conferences, educational tours, team building activities or company retreat, the management makes it all a fulfilling experience. Health focus: Optym provides good healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks within office premises. The pantry area is always loaded with fruits and other eatables.

      Cons

      There is work pressure at times. However, this can be overcome through cooperation within development teams and the management. Employees are allowed to custom fit their office hours as long as their teams are alright with it. The weekdays can be tough but weekends are free like any other company.

We greatly appreciate that. We realize that our team members need to work hard at times to meet project deadlines, but we hope that the satisfaction derived from a project well done and appreciation from clients makes it worthwhile. Keeping both clients and team members happy is our prime focus in our journey of entrepreneurship. And both are related. A happy team builds quality software products which make clients happy.

      Thanks a lot for taking the time to give your honest and candid feedback. We agree with you that we need to work on the architecture of our software solutions and spend more resources on business development. In the past one year, we have hired three senior architects at Optym; they are reviewing the architecture of our current solutions and finding ways to improve that. In all new software products, our architecture facilitates smaller teams consisting of multi-stack developers. Regarding business development in Australia, we will be assigning dedicated resources in Australia. Thanks again for your feedback and pointing out the areas of improvement for us.
