It's somewhat a scam

Pros

Their platform is intuitive and the tracking system is ok.

Cons

This is not exactly an employer per say. It's a FREELANCE PLATFORM. Beware! At no point in the recruiting process have they told me this. You only find this information as a 'fine print' somewhere in the contract you sign with them, but this can be interpreted as being a b2b entity. It's been one month now and I have yet to be given any work because they don't have enough projects to go around and get this, they're hiring about 1-2 devs per day!

Pros

Fully remote, which is an industry standard, and somewhat helpful community managers.

Cons

After going through a somewhat long selection process, with around 4-5 steps, which involved 3rd party technical interviews, where you were told that they had many exciting projects/opportunities, you get hired, but you still need to complete a series of "mandatory" steps inside, so you can access the opportunities, during which I had a few issues and had zero help from IT department, after the hours of onboarding, headshot nonsense, going over the profile and curriculum multiple times, again, all of which you are still not getting paid, I was finally given access to the great "opportunities tab", they had a grand total of 7 open opportunities for Software Developers, some several months old, so clearly abandoned, I talked with one that was hired for QA, their opportunity page had exactly 0 opportunities, in contrast, the Slack #jobs channel, where people look for opportunities, it has a total of 3800 people, and several people are still getting "hired" everyday, even tho they do not have any projects.

Pros

- A diverse multicultural team with some truly inspiring people. If you're lucky and get the job in the right team, than the experience is great, otherwise - not so much. Be aware that there's no alignment within the company on managing styles, communication etc. - Provide you with necessary equipment (at least they did).

Cons

"If you want to see the true culture of the company, look at how they lay off their employees." At the beginning things were great: I truly valued a transparent culture in the company. But then, a new management arrived and unethical practices started taking place. I was laid off with 1 day notice and no severance due to "restructuring" - no further explanations. The manager who communicated this to me was straight up rude, saying that if it wasn't for restructuring, I would probably be laid off anyway as she didn't see my impact (there was no prior communication about my performance, and previous reviews from other managers were always perfect). This same manager still works in the company. Generally, dozens of employees were laid off in the course of 6-9 months before I was laid off - all using the same practice of 1 day notice. One of them was waiting for a baby. A lot of them were Ukrainian men in Ukraine: a company was scared they'll be mobilized. This is the same company that prides itself on being diverse: they're diverse as long as it's convenient for them. All of this was happening while they still were able to afford expensive trips abroad for the whole company: with individual rooms, elite cuisine and alcohol. What's more: some C-level management got drunk during one of the trips and damaged some of the hotel's property. And they were able to cover it. I don't think there's a need for conclusions, those actions speak for themselves loudly enough. Again: "If you want to see the true culture of the company, look at how they lay off their employees."
