Pros

Right now, .the only thing I can think of is that most people are decent, kind and understanding. The ONE thing it had going for it was work-life balance and flexibility. It's the reason I picked this company over others I was interviewing for and now wish I had made different choices.

Cons

They sent an email regarding a massive change to ways of working and returning to the office recently. They signed it off saying - this is the right thing for our customers and shareholders. The one thing missing, their employees. This omission speaks volumes. They know it's not the right thing for their employees but they're going to do it anyway. There was only one office that was at capacity last year. They are investing heavily in new infrastructure in North America. The result of this a global office recall. Of course they are spinning this as related to productivity and culture. It's hard to take that at face value when on an all hands they told us if you're not happy to go back to the office then there are other companies to work for. You have a choice to make. Which sounds like an attempt to attain natural attrition rather than ANOTHER round of lay offs. Equally, when the topic of career progression came up on another All Hands the advice was also, if you want a promotion, leave, go somewhere else. If they are so desperate for people to leave, I don't see why they would hire you at all.

Pros

Colleagues and teams are supportive and collaborative when given the right environment. Benefits package is competitive, and the company’s foundation work is commendable.

Cons

Employee feedback, especially around long commutes and hybrid flexibility, is ignored, leading to a culture of mistrust. The rigid three-day minimum in-office rule disregards those who work better from home, reducing overall productivity and satisfaction. Disciplinary threats for non-compliance with in-office attendance further create a negative and fear-driven culture. Morale has plummeted due to recent news of the office closure, with many employees feeling undervalued and disregarded.

We appreciate your feedback and have read through your comments. Please note that our hybrid working approach is an important element of the way we work at Sage that is complemented by other benefits such as paid time to volunteer, the ability to work away for up to 10 weeks a year and free well-being support tools. We recently also answered several colleagues' questions about the new 3-day policy. If you've not already seen this communication on our internal intranet site, we encourage you to when you can. It sheds more light on how colleagues will be supported as they adhere to our updated hybrid structure. Pros

Pension plan (employee contribution +2% up to 10%); Benefits package; Retail discounts; Performance-related bonus; Salary, unless you're coming in new where it may not be competitive; Some managers are realistic, fair and understand staff are humans with lives and commitments outside of work; Hybrid working providing you work 4 days or more; 5 volunteer days; Personal development days; Can be involved in activities like volunteer days, hackathons and gigs if managers allow release of staff; Flexible working at managers' discretion.

Cons

SLT are out of touch with reality; Blanket change to hybrid working means it is being removed completely for some part time workers; Annual reviews and individuals' worth is based on the bell curve which removes any incentive for some to exceed in their role knowing there's no point in pushing themselves for no gain and to not even be acknowledged as being fully proficient just to fill the left of the curve; Often cannot obtain the required hardware/software to do your job due to budgets yet the company can throw cash away on pointless things like free branded socks, cakes and sweets, merchandise, and electronics and gift cards just for sharing corporate posts on social media; Salary advertised and offered to new joiners is not competitive and will not attract the best talent.
