      Pros

      Technical staff is good and the communication of ideas between people is better

      Cons

      Worked in Synopsys for many years. Extreme bureaucracy! Compensation and career grows at the slowest compared to competitors. Lots of works but no growth. The management promises people both pay increases and career growth to get Job done. Once Job gets done you are given an excuse. The HR plays along or is the main player in driving this.

      Aging employees in a stagnant industry in a market leading company

      Pros

      Work life balance is at its best at Synopsys. You also get to work on extremely challenging problems. Great for someone with a PhD in Electrical Engineering who wants to continue to work in the domain of VLSI CAD. They are the leading company in EDA industry and there is solid job stability. Base salaries are competitive and bonuses are reliably distributed end of every year.

      Cons

      Aging company with aging employees, very stagnant EDA industry with a very limited market cap, implying no room for scalability and growth. Benefits are minimalistic - no stocks for employees below a very senior level. Health benefit plan is very frugal with high out-of-pocket payment. No free food and no glamorous perks that are becoming so common in the Bay Area these days.

      The company high level management team has great leadership with clear vision Shifting from eda to software proactively

      Cons

      This industry itself is shrinking. Our semiconductor customers are consolidating. As you could see, avago squired lsi and Broadcom. Intel is close to deal with altera. All Japan semiconductor companies are sinking.
