Pros

Strong team atmosphere for employees and lower level management.

Cons

Operations is all that matters whether they be right or wrong. You will be over-ruled in your management decisions if it goes against operations. Too much indecision and turmoil. Foreign managers that do not understand the way business and life is in the US.

A great place to work....or at least used to be...

Pros

At the Operations level, still lots of opportunity....however, at Corporate, if you aren't a Water employee, this is a very different company than just 1.5 years ago.

Cons

Veolia ES no longer exists. Any remaining business and employees have been integrated into two business units (Industrial or Municipal). All former VESNA units are now in Industrial. All Senior Staff from VESNA are no longer there. This is the group that ran a profitable, growing business with smart decisions and great leaders. Employees were happy because we got our annual bonuses, and had opportunity. HR was visible, accessible, and while not always perfect, was there - and listened.

Very European

Pros

Good treatment of people overall, reasonable long-term thinking and some attention to retaining good employees. This is the good part of "European": people still matter.

Cons

Very travel-heavy, lots of face-to-face international meetings, very centralized decision structure with most of the big decisions being made in Europe (this is the less-good part of "European"). Sometimes there's a feeling that the North American employees are a bit lower in the eyes of the Europeans and have to work harder and prove themselves in a way they might not if they came from France.
