Unstable and Uncaring Environment

Pros

Competitive salary compared to industry standards. Hybrid work arrangement offers some flexibility.

Cons

Western Union has become an increasingly unstable place to work. Regular layoffs mean job security is non-existent—you could wake up jobless any day. Top management is demanding, with little regard for how employees get the job done, as we have no choice but to comply in fear of losing our jobs. Leadership shows minimal interest in employee welfare, cutting feedback opportunities from quarterly to just once a year. The weak leadership fails to stand up for their teams, creating a poor work environment where employees feel unsupported and undervalued.

Pros

1. Western Union is global! Are you looking to expand your experience beyond your local country? Western Union is located in 50+ countries... think of all the labor codes, laws, regulations, process norms, you'd be exposed to and learn! And if you're not in HR, this is true of about every function too. 2. The last few years, the new CEO has brought on new executive leadership and this transformation requires innovative thinking and creative solutions to drive the company forward. 3. Employees who demonstrate adaptability, resilience, and a willingness to embrace change may stand out for future leadership roles.

Cons

While navigating change and uncertainty can enhance employees' ability to thrive in challenging situations and overcome obstacles, not all current employees are being honest with themselves, if they are up for it. Many current and new joiners are excited about the transformation yet may hit a few speed bumps in pockets of the org where some colleagues do not have the will or the skill to embrace the opportunities to take on new responsibilities, develop new skills, or gain valuable experience in navigating change. This can be tough! Yet the tides are changing. Employees can contribute to strategic decisions, process improvements, and culture changes that can have a lasting impact on the organization - IF they choose to commit to the change journey.
