I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Booking.com (Berlin)
Interview
The initial interview took place at job fair. It was pretty easy - a few general questions on customer service etc. As a result, I was invited to assessment center (via e-mail) held in company's office. It started with computer language tests (native+English) followed by a brief introduction about the company etc. and quick role play, but honestly nothing important. Then, there was a break of approx. 25mins. Afterwards, I was called to join face-to-face conversation with HR folks and I was informed I passed my English test with proficiency grade but....here comes the best, I failed my native language test getting 60%!! Needless to say, it is not possible as the test itself was really meant for children and I could have not failed it, I'm 100% sure of it. I told HR lady it's ridiculous and I asked for results but of course they will never show you any proof, this is how it works...so , for the first time in my life I came to realize I don't have native language skills or they are insufficient, despite having lived in my country for almost 30 years ( I was studying in my native language too).
In the end, I thanked and walked away as fast as I could..
The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com (Lille) in Sep 2014
Interview
I applied for the job offer on workingatbooking.com. Waited for one month before any contact was made. They've sent me an email asking few questions for which the answers where in my CV. I guess they didn't even read CV before. In second mail they said that the interview will be in 10 days.
Interview was divided in three parts.
1. short presentation at Booking.com and job position. Nothing special and nothing to worry about.
2. basic test to see your English and native language knowledge. Some 15 English sentences where you have to point out errors and customer complaint email on which you have to answer in native language.
3. interview - very simple and easy going interview. Questions like: where did you work before, how you deal with stress, do you see yourself in this company and on this job...
All in all, nothing special and nothing difficult. They said candidate should start to work in 3 weeks and you can't miss a day on one months training. The problem is it's been 10 days now and no answer did I get the job. So I should start in 10 days but don't know nothing. They said they will get back with results soon :) Yeah, right
I got the feeling that it was interview for some local company and not leader in that industry. I expected more and thought they will act more professionally.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com
Interview
I've applied online but did not get any response. After a month HR staff called me asking if I'm still interested in this position and when I confirmed I've been invited for group assesment and 1:1 interview which took place the same day.
During the group assessment there was a typical presentation of company profile and work conditions from the HR side and short, basic presentation of candidates (name, nationality etc.). Then language test in EN and native language which required basically to write an answer for the client complaint. Then everyone had 1:1 meeting with CS and HR representants. Questions in general were very basic- what can you offer to booking, com? What is the most important in CS job? How would you manage with difficult situation? I've been also asked to act the phone conversation with complaining customer.
Salary is not negotiable and was given in the advert. My first bad impresion was when someone asked for the possibilities of grow inside of the company and the HR's answer was that they are looking for someone who will be dedicated to customer service role (!?). Sorry to say this but 1st line CS job is not a dreamed one for most of the people and if company offers very basic salary (lower than most european salaries in CS) and do not offers any posibilities to be promoted, it does not make a good impression in my opinion. HR and CS staff were quite friendly although had strange feeling that they had a little bit aggressive attitude so I'm not sure if this is the type of people I would like to work with. Information from HR about rejection my candidature came after few days which is a plus for the company.
