Pros

Very little - networked with a few trainees and got one certification

Cons

Please, PLEASE avoid this! When I first found out about this role and looked it up on glassdoor, I found one review which I believe had 2 stars. That, together with the huge fee (if you quit) really put me on the edge. After quite some thinking, I ultimately said to myself ‘it can’t be that bad’. Ohhh was I wrong. The Capita Novus programme is unorganised and is a terrible work environment to say the least. The equipment is outdated and broken which meant that we had to bring in our own laptops. The trainer is extremely condescending and has control issues - he likes to make himself feel better by picking on the trainees. After your training, they give themselves 3 months to secure you a job. Forget the job part for a second, they failed to even secure me an interview. And I promise you my CV was not to blame as I was able to secure an interview less than a week after leaving. I realised around half way through that I made a terrible decision joining the programme - this was around the time that I found out that there were people from 2-3 groups ahead of me who were still waiting to be placed. This completely crushed my motivation and the trainer did not help; he was always picking on us for very unnecessary reasons - he used inappropriate language and was very unprofessional. After 3 months of waiting around with no interviews/a job, I was finally out of contract and got of there without looking back. If anyone is looking to join this programme, I suggest you reconsider your options. You are going to hate the training - its mostly self taught as the trainer leaves early and sits on his laptop or constantly discourages people when he is present, they have 30+ people who are waiting to be placed and they’re still taking on new groups. Ask yourself honestly, with 30+ people waiting on them, what are the chances that they'll find you a job?

Pros

That is a difficult one, as I have not seen any, unfortunately. Please see below for the details of my experience with them.

Cons

I have been happily working with a number of agencies for the last 3 years in the UK and 10 years abroad. So far Capita has been the worst I have come across. No communication skills, no interpreter management at all, just an embarrassment to be precise. Within 2 years I have been registered with them they did not manage to assign me a single job for my languages, one of which is in high demand and the other is considered to be rare, Russian and Armenian respectively. I have read in the media that the company failed to supply courts with interpreters so many times for so many languages. No wonder why. Out of dozens jobs that I applied for, I was only contacted for one, and yet haven’t even been assigned to it either. In addition to speaking broken English with a strong Eastern European accent you would struggle to understand, the callr did not even know how much it would cost for me to travel to the venue, so she was asking me if I do, while I was on my train back home at 17:00 with no access to Wi-Fi ervice. Needless to say that after promising to check with her supervisor and call me back she never did. Phoning their office has also been a consistent headache, as the relevant coordinator or manager would never be available, nor would return the call. And just as if that was not enough, they would send regular cancellation alert that I am about to be erased from their roster, as I have not performed any job for them. Emailing them with a reminder of the situation would not break the silence, as my email was not even acknowledged. So I was really relieved to let them go on receiving a regular cancellation alert..
