Pros

I have no doubt some people really love Edwards. It is a great place for many. The campus is beautiful in Irvine, the things they do for their patients worldwide is admirable, and it is a reputable company. On paper Edwards looks good.

Cons

Lots of layers of unnecessary management which causes a lot of busy work so people can feel necessary. The environment is cut throat, secretive, and toxic. There is an air of cult like status with certain people and if you don't align with that you might as well start looking elsewhere. When you bring up an issue you are met with a lot of hiding, covering up, and denials. I couldn't believe how many people it took to put out an email or decide on a mundane task. The hand wringing and the constant looking behind you to see who was waiting for you to mess up or who was going to try to one up you caused so much stress. It was the most toxic place I had ever worked. People create way more work than necessary, micromanage capable people, and want you to stay in your narrow lane. No room for innovation or creativity.

Pros

Cafeteria, nice campus and on site gym, wellness center. Some nice people. Coffee shops on site.

Cons

Please review the reviews posted here on how Edwards is handling covid-19 for excellent insight into how the company treats its employees. Employees based in Irvine are being forced into the office with no regard for lack of childcare or safety. Edwards has implemented some changes, but they fall short of actually protecting employees. The psychological damage this company has inflicted on its employees continues to have an impact. Edwards is losing any competitive edge they once had by purporting to be family oriented. Management is arrogant and self-serving at the very top, and the rest of management is too scared or weak to support their employees. As Edwards is losing a lot of talent, I would be concerned to take a management position there at this time. When Edwards was fully 'staffed', work life balance was almost non-existent. Keep in mind that many functions require evening, weekend and holiday work and now with the exodus of talent, this situation will likely become much worse for employees in quality, regulatory and clinical affairs. The salary and bonus seems competitive until you break down all the extra hours. Management will make major scope changes to projects at the last minute and there is absolutely no regard for how this impacts the individuals actually carrying out the work. The THV business unit is particularly toxic in this regard. Expect chaos and stress every day. Edwards also cuts corners when it comes to manufacturing, quality, regulatory submissions and clinical operations. The allegiance is to stockholders and not patients, as evidenced by the plethora of issues surrounding the devices. Critical care and AT may be better business units. Seems like there is significant dysfunction in TMTT as well, although may still be better than THV. I would anticipate TMTT to end up being the stronger business unit within the next few years. Product issues, unethical management and no real product innovation will ultimately impact the bottom line for this business it. If you are someone who doesn't want much of a personal life, this might work out for you. Due to last minute changes and the whims of sr management, you will likely get good experience for your resume.

Pros

Good line up of products

Cons

Watch out, lay off is part of Edwards culture on a regular basis, and they will replace you with a newly grad w/ no experience but w/ low starting salary. Kiss ups and those w/ squeaky wheels that are dum as hell get promoted faster
