Pros

I have been with this organization for over 6 years in various roles and departments. Generous PTO policy and great benefits. Great opportunity for growth if you have a manager who is passionate about your development. Great brand recognition. Fun role and ability to really build strong relationships with clients and internal partners.

Cons

Over the last three years, Gartner has turned into a metrics-focused organization. Very little room to make any mistakes or learn from them. All the focus is on cost cutting (no holiday party, no budget for team outings, no travel). Many pains coming from the acquisition of CEB. Gartner prides itself on being a "people-driven" organization. Employee engagement is at an all-time low and culture is not very positive. Their focus is on "referrals" with little attention to the well-being of current employees. Start investing in your employees and show that you are treating them as more than a number. Turnover is extremely high and it does not seem like leadership is doing anything to curb it. Working from home is not allowed, although the majority of our workforce outside of the Ft Myers office works from home. They want us to be in the office for the sake of being in the office. You hire great people for a reason, start trusting the "great" people you hire and let us have flexibility in our work to do our job.

Pros

Training is good Level of knowledge regarding Information Technology is really high Building are brand new Pension, Vitality and Life insurance are really good

Cons

MSE is like a big farm where you have 250 chicken, you don’t care wether they are having a good time or not as long as they get you your 250 eggs per day. Never join as you just WON’T be successful because your territory is going to be awful, or hope to be lucky. In the meantime some people get promoted become manager even though they don’t know anything about a sales role. Gartner was their first job they are 23 years old, have been working there for 2 years but because TURNOVER IS CRAZY they got promoted. And since you don’t know who is going to be your manager before signing your contract just avoid the company. Some team have lost about 70% of their people in the past 6 months ... As Gartner managers would say, numbers never lie.

Pros

Is still a somewhat respected brand

Cons

Management by inspection and threat. I was put on a "self directed performance plan" 4 months after going territory live coming out of training in Ft. Myers. This was after closing 3 large client renewals (including a globally consolidated agreement, where prior AE's had failed), which I had to then fight to get paid on, with no help from my junior manager, who was awful and terrible in front of clients. This and extreme micromanagement have led to an ongoing revolving door of Account Executives. My FLM demanded his team bcc him on all client emails.
