Pros

Reasonable Salary, good pension and standard benefits package Relatively good work/life balance.

Cons

The pace of change is excruciatingly slow. You can't even blame regulations for it, it's simply down to awful documentation, flakey technology, and years of knowledge simply living in contractors heads. Engaging different teams is just horrendous, with more interest in making sure internal timesheets are full for 35 hours a week, rather than actually delivering worth while solutions for the rest of the bank to use. It's not just technology, business processes too refuse to change. There's no appetite to make any changes to streamline processes or change how colleagues work, meaning we spend years implementing clunky solutions that are ineffective and simply replicate the mistakes of the past. There's a massive lack of trust in us employees too. All changes have to go through close to hundreds of different checks, forums, audits, governance gates, change reviews, workshops, even for relatively simple changes. Not to mention the "2 days a week", expecting employees to simply turn up to the office as early as they can in an attempt to get a desk that has functioning equipment, or a seat in an overfilled office. To add to that lack of trust, very few people I have met will make a decision, or take on any amount of responsibility for an issue. It's a very odd attitude to have in a world where mistakes happen, slopey shoulder syndrome all the way down.

Pros

Great benefits package- pension, shares, holiday buy and sell, Bupa, cycle to work. Decent pay. Flexible employer

Cons

Lloyds used to be a great place to work where people actually cared about others and treated each other with respect. In recent years though the focus has changed and they have lost their friendly caring culture. There are a lot of lifers, people seem to stay in the same roles and at LBG forever. Lots of opportunities for development and career progression, but this is not led or helped by senior employees but the onus is put on you to push and develop yourself. People are promoted for no reason and not based on merit or experience. Most of the middle managers are inexperienced and untrained and have just got there through length of service rather than qualifications. Poor management defines Lloyds and too many meetings that are pointless. Too much focus on time in office rather than actual performance Toxic culture of monitoring employees through card swipes Meant to be a very diverse and family friendly place to work according to their values but the reality is very different. Little understanding for families and not flexible at all.

Pros

Holidays - can be up to 30 days + bank holidays depending on grade Pension Contribution - 15% employer contribution if you contribute 6% Maternity Leave - recently increased to 26 weeks

Cons

Leadership decisions impacting all colleagues negatively without any consultation Communication around those decisions was terrible Not being listened to by the leadership team Mandated 2 days in the office for which we are monitored, which has completely broken the trust we had in the group's leadership team Compressed hours which were an amazing benefits were suddenly removed, without considering colleagues' opinion, specific needs, unique situations or using evidence to justify this choice There isn't enough relevant training opportunities, and the training platform should be more interactive and engaging (i.e. not just videos)
