Pros

Employee Discount and friendly customers

Cons

Heavily understaffed during peak periods throughout the day and even on weekends. Something which was on an ongoing issue for over a year. Increasing the workload employees who are already expected to magic up extra productivity from thin air.

Hi there. Your feedback is valued, we take your comments seriously and are grateful for your contribution. We're really sorry to hear about your experience working with us. This doesn’t sound like the way we do things at Marks & Spencer and completely goes against the values we've worked so hard to uphold, so we'll make sure your comments are fed back. As a business we want to make sure that all our teams feel supported and enjoy the experience working with us in store, I am so sorry this was not your experience. Our success relies on the dedication of employees like yourself, so we thank you for all your hard work. Wishing you all the best, Marks & Spencer.

Pros

The best thing about working for this company is the 20% staff discount which is given after a 3 month probation period, This has been newly introduced in August 2024 previously it was given from commencement of employment.

Cons

If you choose to work as a nightshift team member you need to be prepared to be overworked, underappreciated and invisible to all management. They do not want to invest money to bring more staff into the team so staff are doing the job of three people, leading to extreme exhaustion within the current team. There is no scope for progression and any issues you may have be it with how the shift is ran or issues you may have with other team members will be ignored. Shift patterns mean there is no work life balance as days off not a run of days but spaced within the week.
