Pros

I enjoyed working with my colleagues during my time at Marks and Spencer’s.

Cons

The induction was poorly run. There is no consideration of training new starter employees to a knowledgable degree. Instead the company performs box-ticking exercises to fast track employees into their new positions. Unfortunately when something happens and the training is used to safeguard M&S they completely disregard their staff and do not take any accountability for their failings. Whilst working there I don’t think I had the same management team for any longer than a month. New management would come in and the management in the top hierarchy push the new management out into smaller stores. This made the working environment feel very unstable.

Pros

The staff discount is nice to have. Colleagues who are all very friendly.

Cons

So many downsides, The stores understaffed because of poor budgeting meaning everyones over worked and stressed. Trying to reach store targets which again aren't easily attainable because of the stressful environment created and lack of employees. You're treated and viewed as a drone rather than a person at times and are asked to do pointless tasks such as standing at the door to appease corporate goals, instead of doing practical work to help other colleagues on the shop floor. Managers follow you around rather than being proactive. Some colleagues couldnt get any shifts due to management overspending in the christmas periods. Everyone has to work unsociable hours. (6am starts or 10pm finishes)

Hi, thanks for leaving a review. Whilst it's great to see that you recognize the great colleagues we have, it's discouraging to hear you felt overwhelmed due to resourcing matters and felt there was inadequate accountability, in terms of tasks, throughout your shifts. We appreciate all feedback and will ensure this is fed back to the relevant team. Thanks once again for taking the time to leave a review and wishing you all the best for the future. Pros

Wide diversity product line with strong support.

Cons

Boring, many useless work and report, complicate workflow. Management level are all keeping old school concept, work and think in same way for every process. No career path no development no wage inflation.
