Pros

Interesting work on diverse complicated systems, opportunities to move all over the country and the world, and flexible 40 hour work weeks w/ paid overtime (depending upon your program manager).

Cons

Opportunities for growth can be somewhat limited depending on what program you are working for. Promotions seem to be given for "time served" rather than being merit based. NG is primarily a defense company, and SW program segments don't always get the focus/budget they need. Development processes (CMMI level 5) can be cumbersome.

Pros

Quite simply: The work is interesting (or at least looks interesting on your resume), your career advancement is up to you, which is a huge plus IF you have an entrepreneurial spirit, if not, you'll get no where. The pay is good, hours are flexible and dress is pretty casual (some wear shorts, but that is frowned on, jeans get no comment). The company is large and you can meet many people from diverse backgrounds that can help you outside of worklife (part time realtors for instance)

Cons

Entrepreneurial spirit is a must. If you're not willing to sell yourself both to peers, and management there isn't much chance for good advancement. There are few mentors, and few willing to really help out younger employees. The company is making an effort, but follow through is lacking. New, exciting initiatives are launched, and then forgotten.
