Pros

Good physical environment. Work from home given during pandemic time.

Cons

All the policies are in paper only. Mandatory trainings insist to bring to the attention of the higher official if there any misbehavior of employees, but the worst scenario is misbehavior of managers are not listened by the higher officials and not even the HR. HR is having good rapport with the management team, that is taken as advantage by the managers and doing all the politics, retaliation, misbehavior, unfair treatment of employees, etc. Employees are cornered for troughing out of the company if the employee does not tolerate all such misbehaviors of managers. HR is useless. No respect to the employees. Seen many employees left their job without even getting other Job, all because of these issues. Regarding work culture - it is worst than a government office. Undefined process structure. No relevancy between the qualification and work. All the qualifications and experiences thrown to the dust bin. Experienced and professionally qualified person is equal to a fresher with UG qualification. Politics Politics Politics....... During appointment HR will say that employees are treated good but when we join to the team, work-life balance is not considered. If you are perusing higher studies, you will not get leave for your examinations. Many employees studying higher studies, left the job here as this place is not fit for them. Unorganized night duties. Work load is not balanced. You can not raise any of these issues to your manager nor with HR. Never spoil your life going there.

We appreciate it that you've taken the time to tell about the 6+ years you've been working for our company in Chennai. It's clear that these have not been positive years for you: we regret to hear how you've been experiencing the (work) culture at Philips and that you do not feel heard or helped by the HR team. We take the matters you describe seriously; our management is active here on Glassdoor as well and is taking notes. We hope that we can encourage you to also share your concerns via our Ethics line, which you can find here: https://secure.ethicspoint.eu/domain/media/en/gui/100518/report.html. We wish you all the best from here on out.

Pros

Good quality products. There are some nice people that are competent and willing to help.

Cons

Higher levels of management have ignored the poor Sales leadership that has driven many to quit or take medical leaves. Lead with pressure tactics and constantly chasing and putting out fires. Despite many discussions on how to improve work life balance, process and culture nothing is done about it. Canada is at the mercy of the US or Europe on pretty much everything and many of the team pass the buck vs. trying to challenge the status quo to improve things.

Bad work culture

Pros

Leave policy, Nothing to work.

Cons

Old Technology stack, Legacy product, No new development work. Maintenance and support. Policies are not employee-centric, and HR doesn't have the common sense to talk with employees. Managers and HR don't understand the personal problems of employees. Some times back Philips was a good product development company, but since 2018 they started hiring people from service-based companies and they are spoiling culture. This thing I had heard from a few of my Linked in connections, saw a few reviews on glassdoor and observed while working here. The most important thing I experienced when I was serving a notice period. I strongly do not recommend joining Philips if you are willing to learn and grow in your career and if you are looking for a work-life balance.

Hi there, thanks for your comment here. We're sorry to hear your experience wasn't a very positive one. We’re always interested in providing our people with a rewarding career experience, and it's unfortunate to read that, at least so far, this hasn't been the case for you. We advise you to schedule a meeting with your HR representative or manager to discuss some of the concerns you've shared here. Our upper management is active on this platform as well, so know that you're being heard. Thanks for supporting our mission to improve people’s lives. We wish you all the best.
