I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at KPMG (Chicago, IL)
Interview
Thorough. Friendly. I met with the two national leaders fairly quickly, as they knew what they were looking forward. They were both very straightforward. They looked at me both from a skills standpoint, but also for overall fit within the culture.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG (Johannesburg) in Dec 2013
Interview
It wasn't a long process because they were recruiting for a specific project which was already behind schedule. First telephone interview were they ask general questions followed by a face to face interview with an AD were they ask questions about experience and the new role. Final interview with a partner

Interview
Just had one of the worst interview experiences. Job posting was vague, and I thought, recruiter or phone screening with the hiring manager will clarify things about role/responsibilities. Recruiter was barely ever responsive, and did know nothing about the details about responsibilities etc. Finally, was scheduled for phone screening with 3 people and 1 didnt show up. One never said a word in the interview and the one who spoke the most asked very easy questions. Then I was shortlisted for in-person interview. The interview scheduling took 2 weeks, and again recruiter won't provide timely updates. During the interview, no one from the provided list of 4 showed up. Room had inadequate lighting, remote person could barely see anything from the whiteboard (actually glass,) and very easy questions were asked by the in-person people. They didnt even know who is the hiring manager, where will be the reporting site, and exact work responsibilities. It was a waste of all the time and efforts of 3-4 weeks.
