Pros

The only pro about this place is that it opens the door to real software jobs

Cons

Zero work life balance, subpar pay, unreachable quotas, 70 hour work weeks, poor leadership at every level. Very poor leadership at the top. I was told that I had to earn my personal life. consistently worked until 8 pm at night. Had to take off for a doctor's appointment and was given hell for it by director. I was lied to before accepting an offer about the work from home and work life balance. management will find any and every reason to make you come into the office for unrealistic hours. If you are not 1.5 hours early you're late, and if you don't stay till 7 pm or later you get in trouble for leaving early. Additionally, I was also forced to lie to future applicants that were considering accepting an offer by the company in fear of retribution for being honest about the TOXIC work environment. During my time with Meltwater there were 2 lawsuits settled for workplace mistreatment. It would be my guess that there are many more to come. All of this would be tolerable if the pay was good, however as a sales consultant you can only expect to make about 60k.

Pros

Giving 1 star because it's a pretty bad experience working here except for the select few who agree to sweep things under the rug, sharpen their elbows, and give up any form of outside Meltwater life. Also the 5 star reviews on here are fake so someone needs to be truthful. Pros: People are cool, young tech company but it can be frat/bro heavy at times The company doesn't cut corners for neat team events, lots of alcohol, and nice dinners when out so that's fun if you're into that You can work with a lot of different clients in both client success and things on CA side so good diversified experience Pays good if you hit quotas because, sales

Cons

We can start with the product. It's nothing great. Google Alerts wearing a tiara while carrying a luxury purse full of journalist contacts. The cutting edge software is from partners or from acquisitions that nobody really gets to sell. None of it really affects businesses Beyond the product, there's really no direction from top down with company. Sometimes it can be lack of direction, other times its total lack of communications. A lot of lingo and aspirations thrown around but they can't seem to get the day-to-day figured out at all. Theres always talk of cool things happening but at the end of the day, you're still shoving media alerts or upsells down peoples throats to hit your monthly targets and hopefully be promoted because you've done it a few times in the past A lot of turning a blind eye to things from HR issues to doing things behind clients back. Once the month turns over or your office hits, everyone forgets about things and moves on. Competitors know what they do well in the space, Meltwater really doesn't and tries to do everything crazy well which can be annoying and isn't sustainable

Meltwater Response

Thank you for your review and sorry your feel this way about your time at Meltwater. There are no fake reviews on our Glassdoor account, but we certainly appreciate your feedback on areas we can improve. It's great to hear that you connect with your coworkers and are enjoying our fun and social culture. In a fast-paced, and fast-growing company, clear communication and strategic direction can definitely be a challenge. That being said we are always looking to improve and invest in these areas so thanks for your review. I'd encourage you to get in touch with your Area Director to voice some of these concerns as well.

Pros

I don’t regret my time at Meltwater because it gave me a unique perspective on sales and really made me appreciate my current company.

Cons

Meltwater is an interesting place. Since leaving, I’ve had time to critically think about what the company could to do improve it’s reputation. I’ll start by saying that the ideas are in the right place and the toxic work environment is due to brainwashing and shielding executives at the top. In turn, nothing can be done because it’s a bunch of 20-somethings on a power trip running satellite offices trying to fake hit metrics to make bonuses. Retention at Meltwater is abysmal. Once you can fix your retention and make your current employees happy- I promise most things will fall into place. During my time at Meltwater, it was INCREDIBLY rare to find an employee who was genuinely happy and inspired by the work they were doing. Happy hours became a place to vent and complain. 1:1s with managers were inauthentic because employees were afraid of being pegged as “toxic” or “complainers.” And of course HR is nonexistent so there’s no outlet which forces people to leave and the company the function the same exact way.
