Here goes... horrible management, better higher up but team managers either don't have experience managing teams or they just don't show it. Working space is limited, not too bad unless those around take over your space. Because of the closeness if one person comes in sick everyone gets sick. And forget about getting time off. One of the managers will decline every request untill you go talk to upper management then she will pretend that she never declined it. Constantly says they will work with you but never does. Let's things slide if you are one of the favorite workers, which is nice if you are one of them if not you will get a talking to if you are away from your desk for 5 min, even if all of your work is done or you have no work. But hey so and so is gone from their desk for 7 out of the 8 hours of the day and no one bats an eye, I am gone for 5 min and everyone losses their heads.
On to other matters, remember back to your days in high school with the whispers in the hall, "oohhh did you here that So and so messed up are her test, what a looser." Or "Did you hear that so and so and this girl are going out. I did not ask them but they look like they are so I am going to tell everyone they are." This job is like working at high school, the rumor wheel is the only thing that is constantly being worked. Adults are asking like childern they get confused if someone gives them actual work to do. Then complain when they don't get work. And for all that is good don't make a mistake, everyone will freak out! People would come up and ask me "what was wrong with you, you made a mistake!?" What was wrong with me I am human and we make mistakes. The client is not even that bad if you make a mistake, they will help you fix it, but your coworkers will grind it into you that you are worthless because you made one mistake, even if you have the highest KPIs on the team. But even then it does not matter how your metrics look unless you are involved in the committees no one seems to care about you.
Policy's are great....if you follow them, more if management follows them. They changed some to managers discretion which is fine if you state it in the policy. It makes it really difficult to follow something that is constantly changing. Making people come back from appointments while on drugs cause upper management was out and could not tell you not to is no way to run a team. Or asking that same person to come back to work after a oral surgery. This is a far cry from how a manager should care about her team, more so after telling her team she will "work" with them. That is not how you work with people. Yeah I will work with you but only if you do it my way. She did not care of you were going to make up the time.
The work itself is fine depending on what position you are in it is down right fun, but the team managers ruin the work atmospher.
No work/life balance every butts into your personal life.
