Pros

- You'll make some really good friends with colleagues, most of whom are VERY passionate people who want to make a difference in society. - It's nice to put 'Home Office' on your CV - There are a vast amount of career opportunities

Cons

- Job mis-sold, 'Asylum Decision Maker' turns out to be a mediocre administrator doing menial tasks - Stats, stats, stats - Obsessed with hitting stats as opposed to delivering a quality service - Bullying and victimisation by senior managers to lower grade staff is commonplace - Good luck with receiving training to do your job - You won't get it! - Weeks and weeks to get your I.T. username, in the meantime you are stuck with menial tasks - If you think different from the status quo, good luck - because you'll need it when you're constantly having to justify yourself - They hate being challenged when you identify something wrong

Pros

Some great people who work there

Cons

Zero work/life balance Zero flexibility 10, 9, 8, 7 days working without a day off, frequent working weekends and until 9pm! Hours of working result in exhausted staff and reduced productivity, yet there is constant pressure to achieve unrealistic targets. Senior management aren't expected to work the ridiculous shift patterns but are happy to tell the staff that if they don't like it they need to look for another job.

Pros

I beleived there would of been so many positives to this role but once your in you very quickly realise how corrupted the management and lack of respect to staff

Cons

Unreasonable work conditions and very discriminate to single parents and people with health issues. The general management structure or lack of is awful. I have never felt so under valued, under trained and bullied and pressured in a workplace
