Pros

Not even Veolia can lose money in the water and energy business. It's a good thing, because the managers in charge now cannot run or grow a business.

Cons

Poorly run. No strategy. No consistency. No commitment to the water business. Senior management does not understand the market or its clients. Oh wait, yes they do: come up with a plan and change it every three months. Professionals and those with other prospects are leaving or being fired in droves. Sure, loyalty is not what it once was in corporate America but the clowns who run this place have taken the idea of disposable employees to a whole new level.

Toxic Corporate Culture

Pros

Veolia has strong benefits and some fantastic people who work in the field. They are smart, dedicated, and professional. They succeed in spite of the most toxic corporate culture I have ever seen.

Cons

Those who work in Chicago, if they are being honest, will describe the culture of "throwing others under the bus" if it serves them. This also comes from the many French expats who work there who describe a similar culture in Paris. HR is a joke and they have fired most of the competent staff while maintaining the corporate butt kissers. People are promoted for who they know not what they do. It often feels like a political environment more than a business one in that what you say to whom is the single most critical aspect. The new CEO is a dark cloud hanging over the organization.

Pros

Lovely people - the drivers really make the job even when they wreak havoc!

Cons

From the start all the staff are over worked and miserable. Multiple members of staff within the office were working 12+ hours a day as well as drivers due to the lack of management in the office. All managements work was delegated to the service coordinators, making their work day even longer. The management don’t know what the drivers do or what round they were on, they didn’t bother to learn the basics and haven’t tried even years later. The management would outwardly manipulate the other members of staff in the office by using their home/ personal life against them. There is no positive reinforcement, only public shaming for the small mistakes everyone would make due to being human. Management would be rude and disrespectful about drivers behind their back, calling them uneducated and they wanted to fire some drivers so the rest would “fall in line” out of fear of losing their jobs. A member of management had a disagreement with a driver and exclaimed in the office in front multiple members of staff that they could “go outside and talk like men”. The management are aggressive, rude and unprofessional. I would not wish this work place upon anyone.
